Abstract

By systematically leaving out certain specific musical abilities and performative actions of the professional musician on the one hand, and on the other hand using these abilities - as for example the ability to execute and remember complex rhythms, or using originally "musical" movements such as finger articulations playing an instrument as choreographic material - music-theatrical works have been created as artistic outcomes of the research. Four of these works have been combined into a series of performances and installations, "Sounds of Absence", to be performed on November 8 at 15.00 and 19.00 p.m. in the November Music Festival in Den Bosch, Theater Artemis, Predikheerenpoort 50. In this series, the audience is guided through the building. Each work populates a different space and seeks to make "something else" visible, it develops and demonstrates new types of task performance in order to let the musician become theatrical.
